Business-jet Manufacturer Purchases $259 Million in Goods and Services from U.S. Small Businesses In 2005
SAVANNAH , Ga. , April 6, 2006 – At Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation’s 8 th Annual Supplier Conference, held recently in Savannah , the business-jet manufacturer recognized the following four small businesses for their outstanding performance as suppliers to the company during the 2005 calendar year:
2005 Minority Small Business of the Year
A.S.A.P. Technologies, Inc., of Buford , Ga. , for supplying adhesives, rubber supplies and industrial aerosol products.
2005 Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year
Industrial Maintenance Repair, Inc., of Bloomington , Ga. , for supplying machined parts.
2005 Veteran-Owned Small Business of the Year
Dayton T. Brown, Inc. , of Bohemia , N.Y., for providing technical publications.
2005 Small Business of the Year
Karob Instruments, Inc., of Ocala , Fla. , for providing close-tolerance machined parts.

Gulfstream’s annual Supplier Conference also includes recognition of larger suppliers, seminars, networking opportunities and a briefing by Gulfstream of its procurement programs.
In 2005, Gulfstream spent $259 million on goods and services provided by small businesses, or 36 percent of its domestic expenditures of $715 million.
Gulfstream purchases a variety of products from small businesses, including machined parts, maintenance repair overhaul items, adhesives/sealants, electronic components and raw materials. In addition, Gulfstream receives numerous services from small businesses, including cabinetry assembly, plastic fabrication, construction, engineering, nondestructive testing, employment, plating, coating, equipment leasing and printing services
In selecting new suppliers, Gulfstream continues its existing policy of providing opportunities to Small, Women-Owned, Disadvantaged, Veteran-Owned and Service-Disabled Veteran, and Historically Underutilized Business Zone businesses. For these and other suppliers, Gulfstream provides assistance through technical support, quality assurance, engineering, networking contacts/referrals, and by purchasing equipment and raw materials.
