Gulfstream Strengthens Product Support Capabilities in Asia-Pacific to Meet Demands of Growing Fleet
Additional People And Parts Dedicated to Region
SAVANNAH, Ga., Feb. 20, 2006 - Gulfstream Aerospace, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), announced today that it will significantly increase its product support capabilities in the Asia-Pacific region to support the growing fleet of Gulfstream business jets operating there.
Since 2000, the fleet of in-service Gulfstream business jets in the Asia-Pacific region has doubled in size from 22 aircraft to 44. The current in-service fleet includes G100s and Astras; G200s; GIIs and GIIIs; GIVs and G400s, GVs and G550s. Additionally, there is an increasing number of Gulfstream aircraft flying to, or through, the region.
"We are constantly reviewing how we can provide award-winning product support services to our customers around the world," said Larry Flynn, president, Product Support, Gulfstream Aerospace. "The increase in the number of Gulfstream aircraft based in the region, combined with the growing interest in and demand for our aircraft throughout Asia-Pacific, indicated that this was the right time to supplement our in-region capabilities."
To provide the level of product support and customer service Gulfstream operators expect, Gulfstream added a second field service representative (FSR) in Hong Kong, effective January 2. The company will add a second FSR in Singapore in the second quarter of this year. In addition, Gulfstream will position a specialized PlaneView® cockpit technician in Hong Kong in February of this year, as well as a maintenance technician, located at Metro Jet’s Hong Kong facility to assist transient operators, effective the second quarter of this year.
Gulfstream also announced that it will pre-position approximately $4 million worth of additional parts in Hong Kong, as well as $2.5 million worth of parts in Shanghai, mainland China. Pre-positioning these high-use parts will help to further improve the dispatch reliability of aircraft based in the region or in transit.
Gulfstream consistently ranks at the top of aerospace industry surveys conducted to assess the service and product support provided by business-jet aircraft manufacturers to their customers. In addition to a worldwide network of field service representatives, authorized service centers and parts warehouses, Gulfstream is the only manufacturer to offer a dedicated airborne product support aircraft that delivers parts and technicians to operators throughout North America, and expedites the dispatch of parts and technicians to destinations around the world.
