GULFSTREAM G150 REMAINS ON SCHEDULE FOR FIRST CUSTOMER DELIVERY IN THIRD QUARTER NEXT YEAR
Newest Gulfstream Business Jet Completes Engines Runs
SAVANNAH, Ga., April 19, 2005 - Gulfstream Aerospace, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) and business partner Israel Aircraft Industries, have successfully completed ground engine runs and system checks for the newest Gulfstream business-jet aircraft, the Gulfstream G150. The G150 development program remains on schedule for type certification in the first quarter of 2006 and customer delivery during the third quarter of the same year.
"This is a significant milestone - one that is critical to ensuring a successful first flight," said Pres Henne, senior vice president, programs, engineering and test, Gulfstream. "Both Honeywell engines were powered up and operated throughout the full-thrust spectrum. All engines were well within the manufacturing test requirements. We've integrated the engines with the Environmental Control System, hydraulics, avionics and electrical systems and are now concentrating our efforts on fine-tuning all of the aircraft systems before first flight."
The first true mid-size Gulfstream, the G150 is scheduled for its maiden flight before the end of May.
Powered by two Honeywell TFE731-40AR engines, the G150 can reach speeds of up to Mach .85 and altitudes of 45,000 feet - well above commercial traffic and weather. At a long-range cruise speed of Mach .75, the G150 can fly four passengers nonstop up to 2,700 nautical miles, longer than any other aircraft in its class at this speed. That's the equivalent of New York to Los Angeles, London to Moscow, or Rio de Janeiro to Santiago.
The G150 can accommodate six to eight passengers in a choice of several cabin configurations. Its wide-body fuselage, which is 12 inches wider than its predecessor the G100, provides stand-up headroom, ample aisle space and generous legroom and headroom when seated. Like all Gulfstream customers, G150 customers can choose from a wide selection of fine leathers, upholstery fabrics, wood finishes and floor coverings.
