GULFSTREAM G200 IS WELL RECEIVED BY EUROPEAN BUSINESS-JET CUSTOMERS
Success of European Road Show and New EASA Type Certificate, Makes G200 Even More Attractive to
European-based Customers
SAVANNAH, Ga., Sept. 14, 2004 Gulfstream Aerospace, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), reports its recent G200 European Road Show was so well received by the European business-jet market that the company is seriously considering hosting a similar event in the near future.
The increased level of interest in the G200 and the recent Type Certificate issued by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) have helped raise European customers awareness of the G200 as an outstanding candidate to meet their travel requirements, said Raynor Reavis, senior vice president, sales and marketing, Gulfstream.
The G200 European Road Show, conducted during a two-week period that ended in mid-July, offered business-jet customers on the continent a first-hand look and hands-on experience with the large-cabin, mid-range Gulfstream G200 business-jet aircraft. Gulfstream personnel conducted static demonstrations at fixed-base operators in Munich, Zurich, Moscow, Cannes and Madrid, and both Farnborough and Cranfield in the U.K.
With a range of 3,400 nautical miles, a European-based G200 can readily reach all European capitals, as well as fly non-stop to the eastern coast of the United States.
During the multi-city event, the G200 attracted more than 250 visitors, many of whom are actively involved in the decision-making process, to the static displays. Additionally, four after-hours demonstration flights were conducted, resulting in very promising results.
The G200 is experiencing a dispatch reliability rate in excess of 99 percent. First certified by the FAA in 1998, the first G200 entered service in January 2000. On Aug. 30, 2004, the 100th green G200 was rolled out and will enter into service this December.
The G200s outstanding performance characteristics include excellent climb, high-cruising altitude, high-speed, long-range and short-landing capabilities. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney PW 306A engines, the G200 can reach speeds up to Mach .85 at altitudes up to 45,000 feet. Even with this level of performance, the G200 boasts an hourly operating cost lower than other large-cabin, mid-range jets.
The G200 stand-up cabin offers seating configurations that can accommodate up to 10 passengers. With low ambient noise levels, 100 percent fresh air and natural light from generous windows, the cabin provides a comfortable workspace for busy passengers while helping to offset the effects of travel fatigue.
As with every Gulfstream aircraft, the design of the G200 cockpit incorporates industry-leading technology. In addition to the Engine Indicating and Crew Alert System (EICAS), the flight deck features an Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS), which provides critical electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems information at a glance. For efficiency and safety, the G200 also includes the TCAS (Traffic alert and Collision Avoidance System) and EGPWS (Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System) with windshear warning. Earlier this year, Gulfstream began offering Safe Flight Instrument Corporations Enhanced Autopower® Automatic Throttle System (ATS) as a retrofit on in-service G200s and as optional equipment on new G200s.
