NEW GULFSTREAM FIELD REPRESENTATIVE POSITION CREATED TO SUPPORT LATIN AMERICAN CUSTOMERS
Gulfstream Field Representative Relocated to Sao Paulo VEM Facility
SAVANNAH, Ga., April 14, 2004 – Gulfstream Aerospace, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has confirmed its support of Latin American Gulfstream business jet operators by designating a new full-time field service representative onsite at the Varig Engineering & Maintenance (VEM) facility at Congonhas Airport in São Paulo, Brazil.
"With a local Gulfstream field service representative in place, our Latin American aircraft owners now have someone with the resources and connections to resolve maintenance issues quickly and as efficiently as possible," said Larry Flynn, president, product support, Gulfstream. "This Gulfstream field representative, who has more than 20 years of experience within the industry, will serve as the conduit necessary to ensure our customers in the Latin American region receive the same level of technical guidance they would receive from any of our U.S. and U.K. product support centers."
Gulfstream has appointed Alberto D'Jesus to serve as the Gulfstream field representative in Latin America. Based at the VEM facility in São Paulo, but serving customers throughout the region, D'Jesus will act as the liaison between VEM, aircraft operators and Gulfstream. Additionally, D'Jesus will provide technical guidance on methods and procedures pertaining to scheduled and unscheduled maintenance; he will facilitate full resolution of any technical issue that arises; and serve as a technical advisor to both VEM technicians and Gulfstream operators.
Before joining Gulfstream, D'Jesus spent 10 years in Caracas, Venezuela, providing field service support for Gulfstream G100 and G200 business jets. Fluent in Spanish and English, he will begin work in São Paulo at the end of June. Other Gulfstream field representatives will be onsite at VEM in the meantime.
Varig Engineering & Maintenance is a designated Gulfstream Authorized Warranty Center. VEM is a subsidiary of Varig, South America's largest transportation company. VEM provides on-site engineering, diagnostics, calibrations, fabrication, repairs and overhauls through its many specialized shops.
