GULFSTREAM U.K. MAINTENANCE FACILITY APPROVED TO SERVICE GULFSTREAM AIRCRAFT REGISTERED IN THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES
Gulfstream London Luton Receives Approval To Perform Maintenance On UAE-Registered Gulfstream Aircraft
SAVANNAH, Ga., Feb. 24, 2004 – The Gulfstream London Luton maintenance center in the United Kingdom has received formal approval from the United Arab Emirates' General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) to perform maintenance on all Gulfstream aircraft currently registered in the Emirates. The GCAA is a federal, autonomous body set up to oversee all aviation-related activities in the Middle East country.
“In securing this approval from the government of the United Arab Emirates, we have significantly simplified the process required by UAE Gulfstream operators to have their aircraft serviced at London Luton,” said Larry Flynn, president, Gulfstream Product Support. “Gulfstream owners can expect more flexibility when scheduling maintenance on their UAE-registered aircraft. Additionally, London Luton's close proximity to the Middle East allows owners to have their aircraft serviced without having to make long-range travel arrangements.”
The GCAA certificate specifies that the U.K.-based maintenance center is approved to perform maintenance on Gulfstream IV and Gulfstream G300 business-jet aircraft, the only Gulfstream aircraft models currently registered in the UAE. The certificate relieves the facility from having to formally acquire permission from the GCAA each time a UAE Gulfstream aircraft owner requests maintenance.
Acquired by Gulfstream just nine months ago, London Luton is the only company-operated maintenance center outside the United States. Located at the London Luton Airport in England, the U.K.-based maintenance center is just 35 miles north of central London.
Gulfstream London Luton holds the distinction of being the first Federal Aviation Administration-certificated maintenance center outside the United States to be awarded an FAA Aviation Maintenance Technician Diamond Certificate of Excellence. With this recognition, Gulfstream London Luton has joined Gulfstream's five U.S.-based service centers as a recognized AMT Diamond Award station and three Gulfstream Contract Logistic Support (CLS) maintenance teams based at Andrews Air Force Base, Md. Gulfstream's five U.S. service centers are located in Long Beach, Calif.; Dallas; Appleton, Wis.; Savannah, Ga.; and Brunswick, Ga.
The London Luton service center provides comprehensive service for the following models of Gulfstream aircraft – the Gulfstream G550™, G500™, G450™ G400™ and G300™. Additionally, it provides service for owners of legacy Gulfstream aircraft – the GV®, GIV® / IV-SP®, GIII® and the GII® – as well as Citation, Falcon and Hawker aircraft.
