GULFSTREAM RECEIVES APPROVAL FROM U.K. AND U.S. AVIATION AUTHORITIES TO SERVICE GULFSTREAM V® AIRCRAFT AT ITS LONDON LUTON CENTER
SAVANNAH, Ga., July 9, 2003 - Gulfstream Aerospace, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has received approval from the United Kingdom’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the United States’ Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to perform service and maintenance on the large-cabin, ultra-long-range Gulfstream V (GV) business jet at its maintenance facility at London Luton Airport.
“ U.S. and European GV owners operating in Europe and the Middle East now have a convenient Gulfstream facility to take their aircraft for service and repairs,” said Larry Flynn, president, product support, Gulfstream. “With nine maintenance technicians certified to work on GV aircraft and newly acquired GV-specific tooling, we are well equipped to take on the region’s GV maintenance business.”
In addition to the GV, the facility currently provides comprehensive service for the Gulfstream GIV®, Gulfstream III ®, and Gulfstream II® business jets. By the end of the year, the service center expects to receive CAA approval to perform maintenance on the large-cabin, mid-range Gulfstream G200 and the mid-cabin, high-speed Gulfstream G100 business jets. It also provides service and maintenance for Citation, Falcon and Hawker aircraft owners in Europe and the Middle East.
Purchased from BBA Aviation earlier this year, Gulfstream's London Luton facility is the first Gulfstream-owned service center to be operated outside the United States.
