GULFSTREAM TO ESTABLISH NEW SALES AND DESIGN CENTER
Alliance Facility Provides Optimal Opportunity for Centralization
Savannah, Ga., February 12, 2002 - Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), announced today that it will open The Gulfstream Sales and Design Center at the Alliance Airport facility in Fort Worth, Texas.
"The consolidation of the sales, design and demonstration functions has been on our agenda for some time now," said Joe Walker, senior vice president, worldwide sales, Gulfstream Aerospace. "Moving to this outstanding facility makes the wait very worthwhile." Walker continued. "Gulfstream can showcase its full-line fleet of business jet aircraft at one location and create a more customer-focused experience."
The majority of the Alliance facility's resources were devoted to the completion of the super mid-size Gulfstream 200® business jet aircraft. As part of a recent consolidation of completions, G200 completions work will be transferred to Gulfstream's Love Field facility.
The facility will start to convert to the new function as completions operations are transferred to the Dallas, Love Field facility.
The Gulfstream Sales and Design Center will employ approximately 120 people dedicated to sales, design, completion engineering and the demonstration of Gulfstream business jet aircraft. The majority of the people will be transferred from various Gulfstream locations throughout North America and will include a number of the people currently assigned to Alliance.
The Gulfstream Sales and Design Center is located in central North America at the Alliance Airport and offers direct ramp access. The excellent location, which offers international airline service at the nearby Dallas Fort Worth Airport, combined with the centralization of Gulfstream products, resources and expertise ensures increased convenience and efficient use of customers' and visitors' time.
"To maintain our position as The World Standard® in business aviation, Gulfstream must continually seek ways to improve its operations," said Bill Boisture, president and chief operating officer, Gulfstream Aerospace. "The Gulfstream Sales and Design Center is an improvement that will benefit our present and future customers and one that will further enhance the Gulfstream ownership experience."
