GULFSTREAM'S PARTNERSHIP WITH EXECUTIVE JET AND AWARD-WINNING SERVICE AND SUPPORT LED TO LARGE ORDER FOR GULFSTREAM 200 BUSINESS JET AIRCRAFT
General Dynamics' Purchase of Galaxy Aerospace Company LP Served as Catalyst
Paris, France, June 17, 2001 - When Executive Jet, Inc. finalized its decision to order 50 super mid-size Gulfstream 200 business jet aircraft, formerly known as the Galaxy, and options for 50 more in May, it did so for two reasons. The Gulfstream 200 is the perfect complement to Executive Jet's NetJets® fractional aircraft ownership program and is backed by Gulfstream's award-winning service and support network.
Richard Santulli, chairman of Executive Jet, stated, "The Gulfstream 200 purchase is an example of Executive Jet's commitment to continually offer the best aircraft in the world to meet the varying needs of our NetJets owners."
"This order recognizes the continuing success of our partnership and our combined commitment to the success of the NetJets fractional ownership program," said Bill Boisture, executive vice president, General Dynamics, and president and chief operating officer, Gulfstream.
Santulli stated, "Executive Jet had been evaluating the Galaxy aircraft for its NetJets program. We wanted to be ensured that the service support required to meet the demanding operating conditions of 1,000 plus flight hours per year per aircraft would be met."
The acquisition of Galaxy Aerospace Company LP by General Dynamics meant that the Gulfstream 200 would be supported by Gulfstream's worldwide network of service centers and would be given the technical and field support to meet the demanding requirements of the NetJets program. "Our successful partnership with Gulfstream finalized our decision to purchase the Gulfstream 200 aircraft," Santulli said. "Gulfstream has committed to providing the same consistent, reliable, award-winning service and support that it does for all the Gulfstream business jet aircraft."
Gulfstream and Executive Jet have forged a strong partnership ever since Executive Jet introduced the first Gulfstream IV-SP aircraft to the NetJets program in 1995. To date, NetJets has ordered 68 large-cabin, long-range Gulfstream IV-SP business jet aircraft, including options, and has taken delivery of 40. It also has ordered 32 large-cabin, ultra-long-range Gulfstream V business jet aircraft and has taken delivery of three.
The first Gulfstream 200 will be delivered to NetJets in the 2nd quarter 2002. Seven of the new super mid-size aircraft will be delivered in 2002, 12 in 2003, 12 in 2004, 12 in 2005 and seven in 2006.
The first of the new generation of super mid-size business jet aircraft, the Gulfstream 200 offers the longest range, the largest cabin and the best balanced overall performance and price in its category. Capable of flying 3,620 nautical miles at speeds of up to .82 Mach, the Gulfstream 200 cruises at altitudes of up to 41,000 feet.
When buying a new aircraft type, Executive Jet seeks the most reliable and safest aircraft in its class for the NetJets program. Then it considers cabin size, comfort level, range, baggage capacity and hot/high performance. As one magazine noted: "The result, as far as Executive Jet is concerned, is that they select the best aircraft in the world for NetJets' owners."
Designed for individuals or corporations with less than full aircraft requirements, the NetJets fractional aircraft ownership program allows individuals and companies to own aircraft without the substantial investment required for outright aircraft purchase. The NetJets program has proven to be extremely valuable for companies that have invested in whole aircraft ownership and need NetJets to meet their supplemental lift requirements.
Executive Jet is the world's largest operator of private business jets. Richard Santulli introduced the concept of fractional aircraft ownership in 1986, and the popularity of the company's NetJets program has surged over the last decade. Today, Executive Jet manages 362 aircraft, with more than 580 aircraft on order. In the last six years, Executive Jet has ordered 942 new aircraft for the NetJets fractional ownership program with orders totaling more than $17 billion.
