GULFSTREAM TO PLACE 100th GV INTO CUSTOMER SERVICE THIS FALL
In Its Fourth Year of Service, Gulfstream V Fleet Surpasses 66,000 Flight Hours
NBAA, New Orleans, Oct. 10, 2000 - The Gulfstream V program will reach a major milestone this fall with the introduction of its 100th GV into customer service. Since the world's first ultra-long-range business aircraft became operational in June 1997, the in-service fleet has surpassed 66,000 flight hours and completed 30,000 landings. To date, 95 Gulfstream V aircraft are in service, including 10 based in Europe.
"The Gulfstream V has established its reputation as the safest, most reliable, high performance business aircraft ever built," said Bill Boisture, Gulfstream's president and chief operating officer. "Its performance, together with a dispatch reliability of 99 percent, is key to its market leadership. The Gulfstream V continues to deliver for its customers."
A GV, operated by GV Executive Charter Co., continues as the Gulfstream fleet leader with nearly 3,000 flight hours. More than 50 Gulfstream Vs have flown more than 500 flight hours and 20 GVs have over 1,000 flight hours.
In its four years of service, the Gulfstream V has established itself as the world's finest ultra-long-range business jet and has changed the parameters of world travel. Fully certified in 1997, the Gulfstream V is the world's most technologically advanced intercontinental business jet aircraft. Capable of flying 6,500 nautical miles at speeds up to Mach .885 and a maximum cruise altitude up to 51,000 feet, the Gulfstream V can easily travel from New Orleans non-stop to destinations such as Cairo, Egypt and Punta Arenas at the southern most tip of Chile.
